About VLTs in Newfoundland and Labrador
If you’re looking to play VLTs in Newfoundland and Labrador, here’s the lay of the land. VLT machines here aren’t in casinos. They live in age-restricted, liquor-licensed venues across the province: bars, lounges, taverns, pubs, and similar spots. We’re still building out the full venue list for the province, so think of this as your starting point for how it all works and where you’ll find the machines.
Who Runs VLTs in Newfoundland and Labrador
VLTs across Atlantic Canada are run by the Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC), the same Crown body that operates the machines in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and PEI. Each terminal is networked to a central provincial system, so this isn’t the same product as a casino slot machine. If you want the full breakdown, see how VLTs work and our guide to VLTs vs slots.
To play, you’ll need to be 19 or older. That’s the legal minimum across Newfoundland and Labrador, and you’ll only find VLTs inside licensed venues that enforce it. And because ALC doesn’t publish a public locator for the province, a finder like this one is the practical way to track down a machine near you.
